Swine Flu

Malaysians! It's time you take some responsibility and take measures in your own hands, all within the boundaries of the law of course. It is worrying to read in the Sunday Star dated 16th August 2009, about thousands of people attending an open air concert at Sunway Lagoon. One question folks! Indifference or ignorance?

Then there's the Merdeka Day celebrations due to be held on the 31st August 2009 at Bukit Jalil Stadium where, among others, 4,000 students will be taking part plus thousands others, unwitting pawn in Malaysias ever continuous quest to be number one in conjunction with its Malaysia Boleh! theme. Poor things!

WHO expects about 5 million Malaysians will contract this 'Babi Flu', one of the biggest in the world. The hands that rule Malaysia can be happy and elated that by that time, they would have achieved another number one in their Malaysia Boleh! quest. Swine!

I say, lets push that hand aside, take matters into our own hands and make some drastic change of our own. Stop being indifferent or ignorant. After we have made that change, let us not forget to wash our hands, both idiometically and literally!

Clothes

One title can allow one the
opportunity to come with at least
three angles on how the essay can be
written. The following are examples
of how the title 'Clothes' can provide those opportunities.

1.Traditional clothes are worn by people of a certain country to represent their nationality. They are usually worn during special occassions, especially during weddings or festivals. Traditional clothes are not meant to be worn on a daily basis, because of the intricacy that is involved in wearing them and of course the value and make of the materials used to make the clothes.

2.Everybody have their favourite pair of clothes that they wear every day. I like to be laid-back and easy-going so I prefer to have a t-shirt and a pair of jeans on. The jeans and t-shirt do not have to be expensive designer ones,
instead they can be ones that bought off the rack from any department store or clothes shops.
I prefer to wear t-shirt and jeans because of their durability and the fact that they can be worn for any informal event. They are also durable and value for money for the mere reason that can last for a along time, and even look better with age.

3.Most people like to shop for clothes when they go out. There are several places where you can buy clothes and the places themselves will determine a lot of things about the clothes. First of all, clothes can be bought in department stores, where most of the designer labels and up-trend clothes are sold. They can also be bought in small stores where they are usually much cheaper than the ones sold in the department stores.

Novels

I have to say that the best novel that I have ever read, and my first, is The Other Side of Midnight, by the late Sidney Sheldon. Being a novice reader at the time, I found the story so spell-binding that it was impossible to put the book down, or as people who reviewed it said; "unputdownable"!.
The most interesting aspect of the story is that Sidney Sheldon managed to transport me, who has never been anywhere outside my own country ever, to countries all over the world and especially Paris, where most of the story is based. Little did I know that later in the course of my life, I eventually had the wonderful opportunity to go to Paris myself.
His interpretation of the main character was so realistic that you had no choice but to sympathise with her and hate the people who mistreat her, even though the ending was something I did not expect at all. Nevertheless, it was a beautiful read, and I have read it four more times since then, and have also watched the film version of the movie; and on top of that, uncensored, too!
Since this is a lovely story, besides all the other novels written by Sidney Sheldon, I recommend anyone who wants to start with a captivating read, go the bookstores and buy this book! Better still, make a collection of his books!! Happy reading!

Improving Your Englsh Language

Learning a second language, without doubt, is a daunting task, not least because it is a totally different language with different grammatical structures, but also because learners see no possible need to use the language.

What ever the reason, learning a second language will definitely depend on the learner's desire and willingness to learn. Of course, with purpose for the language will come the need to learn, but the learner himself or herself will have to find or create that opportunity to use the language because opportunity to use the language is something that the learner has to find and not given on a silver platter! No pain, no gain!

Energy Saving

There are many whats, hows and mainly whys when we mention the words energy saving. People get agitated, uneasy to the point of demanding why they should be the ones to save energy or why should they save energy when they can clearly afford to pay the bills. To those ingnorant enough to even ask these questions, the answer is not in whether you are the one who should save energy or whether you can afford to pay the electricity bills, but what energy saving entails. Just remember, people don't live by electricity alone; and for that matter, people don't live alone.

There are numerous ways for people to save energy. They can look at how they use the electrical appliances at home and what are the appliances they use. They can look at how much water they use every day and whether the amount they use is absolutely necessary. The task of saving energy is not an individual task, but the responsibility of many, including the society in which we live in, the electronic and printed media and above all, the government. In short, it takes two, or in this case three, to tango! Ole!
